The highly anticipated game “The Day Before” has recently launched in Early Access on Steam, but not without its share of issues. Despite being one of Steam’s most-wishlisted games, the launch has been marred by significant problems. Players have encountered numerous server issues and bugs, including a major glitch at the start of the game where players fall through the floor. Additionally, many users have reported difficulties connecting to servers, with some servers being completely full.
Misleading marketing has also been a point of contention. The game was advertised as a survival MMO, but players are finding it more akin to an extraction shooter, contrasting significantly with their expectations. The game’s performance and visuals have also drawn criticism, with one player describing it as running and looking poorly.
Despite these challenges, the developers, Fntastic, have plans to improve and expand the game during the Early Access period, which is expected to last 6-8 months. This phase will focus on bug fixes, gameplay balance, and adding new content like weapons, vehicles, and houses. The price of the game, currently set at $40, is expected to increase after the Early Access period.
Fntastic has briefly acknowledged the launch issues, particularly citing server overloads in North America, but detailed communication or a comprehensive fix plan is yet to be seen. This rocky start follows a series of delays and a trademark dispute that had previously impacted the game’s release schedule.
Overload on North American servers. The servers are working. Fills up too quickly. #thedaybefore

It’s evident that “The Day Before” faces a challenging road ahead. The team must address these early technical issues and align the game more closely with its advertised vision to meet the high expectations of its eager player base.
